biographical details

 

Paul O'Brien studied at Trinity College Dublin, where he took a doctoral degree in philosophy. He is currently a lecturer in the Faculty of Visual Culture, National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Ireland. He has also taught at post-graduate level at the Dublin Institute of Technology. His teaching and research interests include aesthetics, ecology, post-colonial theory, art and technology, new media theory and cyberculture. He has published articles in Circa art magazine, Irish Communications Review, Point, and Education Arts Research International. He has also published chapters in the books Keeping It Real: Irish Cinema and Television (London: Wallflower, 2004) and Engineering Nature: Art and Consciousness in the Post-Biological Era (UK, Intellect, 2006). "His most recent publication is 'Hibernian Evanescence: Globalisation, Identity and the Virtual Shamrock,' in Postcolonial Text, Vol. 3, No. 3, 2007.
